Easy Bohemian DIY

Ok, so this week I decided to go easy on myself and do a simple DIY for you guys. I got in a minor car accident this past Friday right before we were supposed to leave town for the weekend (don't worry.. I'm ok. Yes, it was my fault and yes, we still left town.. I know you were wondering.. any more questions? haha) We had a two and a half hour drive to where we were going and I thought that would be a perfect time to work on my blog but of course my computer was almost dead and I don't have a cord for my computer that can plug into my car chager. Needless to say, I wasn't able to spend as much time working on my blog as I wanted. Life is picking up the pace a little and my husband is getting more hours at work, which means I'll be going back to work in the office. So, between that and my precious little one I'll be a bit busier and have more of a challenge juggling my responsibilities.

Anyway, now to the DIY. I told you in my previous post that I really love Bohemian decor... but my house decor right now is more farmhouse, cabin-ish style.. actually, kind of just a mix of randomness. Anyway, I thought I would create an easy DIY for you and beautiful piece for my home or any home for that matter.

I've been thinking about making one of these for a little while but I didn't want to spend tons on the supplies. It still didn't turn out as cheap as I wanted but it was affordable and under $40 to make it. I already had some of the supplies so depending on what you have it could cost more or less. Here is a picture of the supplies...

1. Boho style placemats- I got them from Target- $3 for the solid ones and $5.99 for the designed ones

2. Greenery and flowers- I also got these from Target as well- the fig leaf stem was $9.99 and the floral stem was $4.99- I got these in the Heart and Hand section of Target

3. Hot glue gun and glue sticks- I already had them on hand

4. Scissors

Ok so, first of all, I got five placemats because you don't usually want to use even numbers when decorating. It's said that an odd number of details is more effective at capturing a persons gaze and makes it more memorable than something paired off in two's. (Just a little piece of decorating advice) So, I arranged the placemats the way I wanted while waiting for the hot glue gun to warm up...

Then, I attached the placemats with the hot glue. To be honest, I wasnt sure the glue would be enough but it holds them together very well.

Next, I took the flowers and leaves off of the stems. (They just pull off)

I arranged them on the placemats before adding glue just so I could make sure I liked where I put them. I used the scissors to cut a little more off the leaf stem so it would lay flatter, glued them down, and then voila! You are done folks!

Now, I know it isn't perfect but who said that something YOU created and put up in YOUR home has to be perfect? It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful to you- just a side note. And I'm not a professional people, this is just a DIY! So now you can try it for yourself and make it how you want. Go ahead.. get to the store and use your imagination. You've got nothin' better to do!

Also, if you're wondering how I hung it on the wall.. I used little wire nails and hammered them through the placemats into the wall. Works perfect!

Alrighty, until next time...
